Warts
What is warts?
Warts are small, rough, skin-colored bumps caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear anywhere but are common on the hands, feet, and knees.
How to Tell If You Have It
- Firm, raised bumps with a rough surface
- May have black dots (clotted blood vessels)
- Can spread to other areas
- Usually painless, but plantar warts (on feet) may hurt
Why It Happens
HPV enters the skin through small cuts or cracks. Warts are contagious through direct contact or shared surfaces.
