Shingles
What is shingles?
Shingles is a painful rash caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus (varicella zoster). It usually affects one side of the body or face.
How to Tell If You Have It
- Burning, tingling, or pain in one area before the rash appears
- Clusters of small blisters on a red base
- May affect torso, face, or eyes
- Rash that scabs over and heals in 2–4 weeks
Why It Happens
The chickenpox virus lies dormant in the body and can reactivate later in life, especially during times of stress or lowered immunity.
How We Help
Early antiviral treatment is key. We can prescribe compounded topicals to help soothe pain and reduce inflammation during and after the flare-up.
What to Expect
Your formula may include antiviral agents, pain relievers, or nerve-calming ingredients in a topical base to improve comfort.
