Porokeratosis
What is porokeratosis?
Porokeratosis is a rare skin condition that causes raised, ring-like lesions with a central depression. It can be chronic and slow-growing.
How to Tell If You Have It
- Often appears on legs, arms, or trunk
- Circular or oval patches with a raised, ridged border
- Lesions may increase in number over time
- May look like a dry, scaly patch that won’t go away
Why It Happens
Linked to sun exposure, immune suppression, or genetics. Some types of porokeratosis carry a risk of progressing to skin cancer if untreated.
